gillion being,, so so so gentle with selkie chips coat he doesnt touch unless chip gives direct permission every single time and he always keeps it where chip can see it when hes allowed to hold it and the first time chip wraps them both up in it he pulls chip in really close so chip cant see the tears in his eyes cause hes just so so so overwhelmed by affection for his partner
eventually chip just tosses his Coat over gillions shoulders casually and goes about his day and gillions in shock but hes Extra Careful that day making sure the Coat never slips and stays securely on his shoulders aand watches chip for any sign that he wants it back because he can see how tense chip is but chip doesnt ask for it he just watches gill carefully
chips testing himself, proving to himself that he doesnt have to be scared with Gillion having his Coat because he trusts gill to protect that Coat with his life and he makes it through the whole day without taking his Coat back from gill and he makes it to the final part of the test where he finally walks up and asks for his Coat back as casually as he can manage with how hard hes shaking
and gillion immediately gently slips the coat off of his shoulders and wraps it around Chip's and says "thank you for allowing me the honor of protecting it for the day" and presses a kiss to Chips forehead and chip just tackles gillion in a hug and hes sobbing from overwhelming love and relief
I am EXPLODING
Chip trusts Gillion, he knows he does, he knows Gillion would never intentionally hurt him. He knows that Gillion will keep his coat safe and that he’ll be allowed it back whenever he wants with no hesitation.
But his instincts SCREAM. His instincts see Gillion’s sharp claws and piercing eyes. They see moments where Gillion moves too fast and Chip tenses, expecting his cost to fall to the ground in abandonment, or worse, ripped to shreds in an instant.
Gillion, of course, takes very good care of it. The whole day, it’s on the forefront of his mind and he makes sure that it never leaves his sight, touches the ground, or is touched by anyone else. He’s incredibly gentle with it.
And when he gives it back, he’s slightly worried that he didn’t something wrong and that Chip will never allow him to touch the cost again, but Chip is smiling through tears and tackling him in a hug and
Oh. He must have done something right.

Aw balls. I almost forgot an intro
Hi, I'm Katie! I'm a writer with two ongoing wips that I like yammering about, so ima do it here!
Pronouns: she/her
Age: 20
Other interests: art, dnd, the Magnus Archives, anything Cosmere related, martial arts, Critical Roll
.
My wips are set in the same universe, on the planet of Illaros, fifth from the last star left living in the universe. There's a continent, some islands, and other assorted junk down there. The gods have a dyson ring, but they don't like to talk about it. The stars are the eyes of an ancient primordial force of destruction.
Honor's Outcasts follows a rag-tag group of delinquents trying to survive psycho pirates with family ties, a siren theocracy, magic that rots in your blood, and the Horrors. Their number includes such mighty heros as: a kid who can explode people with her mind, a buff shark lady who survives regular eldritch encounters by not paying attention, a mute aroace siren man with a bitchy attitude, and the world's sweetest gang mamber. Of course, they're one big family, and what's family without a little religious terrorism?
The Mystery of the Mortal God asks what happens when magic and science collide in a world where ethics panels haven't been established yet. Set a few decades down the line from HO, this story follows a cowboy witch with a chip on her shoulder as she discovers a mysterious robot laying broken and confused on the side of the road. At the same time, in a city on the other side of the globe, a blue blooded detective investigates a cold case suddenly gone hot. In time, all players will meet, including the mage who set this whole conundrum in motion.
The Final Voyage of the R.S. Starbreaker is sci-fi with ghosts! More accurately, as the magical societies of Illaros take their first steps into space, they don't use unmanned probes, but instead call upon the gods to send ghosts to be bound to a mighty runic galleon: the R.S. Starbreaker. This first skeleton crew consists of an honorable former Flying City pilot with a seedy past, a brash elven astronomer infamous for her incomplete work, a meticulous selkie cartographer determined to map the solar wheel, a laid-back fae man with a dangerous set of ideals, and the key to this mission's success: a former part of an eldritch hive mind on a hunt for his extinct people's missing afterlife.
.
Anyways, if you're here, feel free to say hi! I'll mostly be posting whatever bullshit comes to mind, but maybe you'll get lucky and something entertaining will come out? I certainly hope so!
Have a bitchin' day <3
.
An addition! Here are my characters' playlists! (And intros for those who have them) (All instrumental because I can't write while listening to vocals)
Izjik Meautammera +intro
Sepo Kaiacynthus +intro
Twenari Devaris +intro
Djek Kagura +intro
Daedryn Whitenight
Astra DuClaire +intro
Mashal Darezsho +intro
Ivander Montane +intro
Elsind Cavernsight +intro
Avymere Spearsong +intro
Ghost Ship Radio + wip intro (for the Starbreaker crew)
(Curious as to which character you might relate to the most? Here are some quizzes that might help you out!) (First is for MG and HO, second is for Starbreaker)
.
A second addition! Please feel welcome to check out my new Illaros library! These are short stories written (mostly) in my setting that I've shared before on here, but I figured I'd put all the links in one place :)
Down in the Deep Dark - 2,500 words - The tale of how Izjik and Sepo met
Violating the 4th - 11,000 words - Coverage of the first Surgeon case from the POV of Ceyrel (Ivander’s detective partner)
Rel's Haunting - 16,000 words - A story of a fallen angel, the dead god who made them, and finding wonder in the supermarket
Full Saturation - 2,000 words - A short horror story set on modern Earth about saturation diving and places better left untouched
And for some one-shots:
Mashal and Ivander hanging out
Izjik making Sepo a flute in the Trench
The cast of Mortal God gets a beach episode
Mashal teaches Astra to ride a horse
Again, have a bitchin' day <3

Brittle I know that Halloween has passed but that Au post has got me thinking about Y/N monster aus. We had a short vampire au as well as mermaid Y/N but what about all of the other kinds of monsters?
Anyways here's a few of my favourite ideas feel free to use any of them!
Werewolf Y/N:
Self explanatory, would be funny with Werewolf cookie if they need up as polar opposites. Could also go well with Red velvet, Crunchy chip, Moonlight, Stardust and Dr Bones.
Harpy Y/N:
There are so many options for them, like they could be with Golden Cheese, Raisin, Captain Caviar (pirate hunter X menace to pirates), Pure vanilla. They could even be a member of the Spice Swarm or even an unofficial member of the Cacao Watchers, just hanging around to see their very pretty wife.
Frankenstein Y/N:
A blueprint for the perfect cookie. Honestly the Cookie of darkness interactions would be very fun since they could be a bit clumsy and fall apart a lot. (Licorice would be in charge of fixing them.) Butter Roll is completely obsessed with them and they could have a "If I'm meant to be the blueprint for a perfect cookie, shouldn't I be enough?" Crisis whilst finding solace in Matcha Cookie.
Selkie Y/N:
Makes so much sense and would work really well with anyone from the republic.
Minotaur Y/N:
Could go the mythological route but instead of getting slain they end up going through an Enemies-to-Lovers speedrun with whoever got sent in. Also could be not stuck in the Labyrinth to protect others but hanging out there to avoid getting hounded by marriage proposals. Eternal Sugar also gives me greek vibes so they would work well as a bodyguard for her.
I hope you enjoy these suggestions and I love your writing!
Mythical Mythos will have some of these actually.

I absolutely LOVE your Mythology Falls AU designs, but I’m curious on why you chose the ones that you did.
I'm so happy you like it! Let's go down the list, shall we?
Dipper: I love the Sphinx!Dipper from Nightrizer's take on Monster Falls, but I didn't want to go that route since these are supposed to be an original take on idea of everyone becoming creatures of myth and legend. The first reason I chose a Gryphon for our beloved Pine Tree because they represent traits like bravery, wisdom, and power. Obviously, Dipper isn't the strongest character in Gravity Falls, but when the chips are down, he isn't afraid to start beating the hell out of whatever is terrorizing him, no matter how much stronger they may be.
The second reason is because I wanted to do something with owls and cheetahs for Dipper. I chose the barn owl because their feathers actually do kinda resemble the colours I chose for Dipper's feathers, and also because they're my favourite species of owl. Both owls and cheetahs are nervous creatures with high pitched calls, which I think fits Dipper very well haha.
Mabel: While I like the idea of Mabel being some kind of water creature, I think her being a mermaid would cause quite a few issues with mobility. I went with a selkie because not only are baby seals fricken adorable (especially harp seals, which is what her coat is based on), but it also allows her to keep her iconic sweater look! Now she can be fashionable on land, and utterly adorable in the water. There's also the added risk of someone trying to take her coat, but when one of your Grunkle's is a dragon, and the other is a kelpie, most people get the hint not to try anything.
Grunkle Stan:
Tumblr media
Haha, come on, you see it, right?
Really, though, while Stan may love money, and everyone assumes that he would be hoarding crisp dollar bills, his real horde is actually his house and all those within it. He loves his family more than life itself, and anyone who brings them harm is going to be getting a face full of flames. He's big, grumpy, and looks like he'd be nothing more than a dumb brute, but in reality he's a big softie who could outsmart most anyone who crossed him.
Ford: Kelpies look beautiful, friendly, and enticing, promising fun and adventure, if you only would come closer and climb atop their back. However, this is only a farce, and now you're being dragged down into the dark depths of a lake or river. While Ford wasn't drowning anyone as a human, he certainly dragged McGucket down a dark path, often bringing him into dangerous situations, and he almost did the same to Dipper, although not intentionally. However, they are not always bad, and if you can slip a bridle over a Kelpie's head and tame it for a time, they'll tirelessly help you with whatever you need.
They were also said to be shapeshifters, often taking the form of a man. Whether or not Ford will figure this out remains to be seen (hopefully no one sticks him in a cage and threatens to freeze him!)
Soos: The world's most perfect man deserves a nobel and revered creature. Qilins are gentle, benevolent protectors, and unlike unicorns, they really can see into someone's heart! I wanted Soos to have an overwhelmingly friendly and loved mythological form, so a Qilin seemed like a natural fit.
Wendy & McGucket: two North American cryptids, neither one having much to go on. I chose a Splintercat for Wendy, both because its a lumberjack legend, and because this lynx-like beast topples whole trees with ease by smashing into them which reminded me of Manly Dan, who is also a Splinter Cat.
As for poor old Fiddleford, I made him into a Glawackus because 1. tell me that name isn't something he'd say.
and 2. Glawackuses are said to have the ability to erase the memories of anyone who looks into their eyes. I made it so that the eye that is covered by his green eyeglass is safe to look into, while the other will cause memory loss.

Otter Hybrid! Neuvillette
x gn reader
Neuvillette has to hold hands with y/n when asleep; whenever they're not around or gone on travels, he holds onto a stuffed animal in their stead.
Files down his claws as to not accidentally rip/tear things. Started doing it after he accidentally tore a hole in y/n's favorite shirt. Spend the time after learning how to sew it back up. There's a clumsy flower embroidered to cover it up.
Has a fur pelt akin to selkies in mythology. Unfortunately stealing it doesn't equate to forced marriage unlike what Wriothesley thought. After it was returned to him, he became extremely protective over it.
One time while tired, he tried opening the fridge with a rock before y/n stopped him. Making him sit in a chair while they prepared breakfast. If impatient, he ends up nibbling on salted kelp chips.
Despite insisting on separate bedrooms, he'll sometimes sneak into y/n's bed during the middle of the night. Y/n usually finds out when they wake up due to overheating from his pelt.
Neuvillette knows y/n's mad at him whenever they call him a knock-off skunk.
Y'know that trend where people use a wet toothbrush on their cat because it reminds them of their mother? Yea, for Neuvillette, blowing raspberries on his skin does the same thing.
Speaking of cats, he's retches whenever he smells a litter box nearby.
Can swim extremely well to the point of being able to free dive to 60ft but can't float to save his life.

Laimay Day 24: Selkie AU
I didn’t finish my drawing for this prompt, but I did write a little fic for it! (~1.6k words)
Laios had been kicking himself all morning. How could he have been so careless as to forget his notebook on the beach the night before? He’d been half-asleep by the time he’d dragged himself off to his van, but that book was his *lifeblood*. It was more important to him than his next meal, or his parents, or his *sister*.
Well, that was a lie. Nothing was more important to him than his sister. Still, inside that notebook were all the coordinates of sightings, details on all the local legends, contact information of the park ranger, and various jokes and theories he had about the habits of different Cryptids. He couldn’t *believe* he’d been so careless with it, and Laios nearly tripped in his hurry down the rocky cliff side. The tide had come in last night, and with just his luck, it would have waterlogged the notebook if not pull it out to sea. He should have invested in waterproof paper, he *knew* he should have, but working odd jobs every other month didn’t pad his pockets as much as he’d like.
His camera thudded against his ribs and gravel scattered as he hopped down a boulder and straightened, looking around desperately. He was right in this area last night, observing the bioluminescent algae that washed ashore. Laios caught his breath as he took note of his surroundings. Ahead, the water stretched out endlessly, the waves shallower after the tide had receded. Off to the north, a herd of seals were bathing in the sun-warmed rocks. Laios leaned to look into the reeds beside the path, searching for a glimpse of the tattered yellow cover of his book, but there was nothing but some littered chip bags and a broken beer bottle.
“*Come on*,” he muttered, eyes sweeping the rocky shoreline as he walked further out to the water’s edge. The boulders were smoother and more damp, here, and his pace slowed. A few seagulls circled overhead, and to the south some were pecking away at something. A glimmer of hope flickered in his ribs as he picked up speed, jogging to where the birds huddled, but as one cawed irritably at him and took off, it revealed they were picking at nothing more than a dead fish. Laios’ stomach sank, heat draining from his face, and he swayed. *No, no.* No despair yet. Laios swallowed and looked back out at the ocean. *Think, Laios, think!* Maybe he’d dropped it on his way to the van, and it was on the trail somewhere? Maybe he’d passed it on his hurry to get back here.
Laios’ thoughts were interrupted by a dark shape breaking the waves, and he instinctively grabbed for his camera. He hadn’t turned it on yet — *stupid* — and had to take his eyes off the water to find the button with his finger. The screen lit up, and Laios quickly removed the lens cap and stowed it in his bag before lifting his head.
A brown seal was coming up the beach at an alarming pace, round body lunging forward and flippers splashing with every landing. It…seemed like it was coming right towards Laios. Angling the camera, he took one quick photo before stepping aside to keep some distance between him and the animal. Seals could be nasty, and as cool as it would be to see one up close, their sharp teeth was much less friendly than their round, adorable faces. Laios wasn’t expecting the seal to change course, rounding toward him again, and his heart skipped in fear. He started backing up, trying to keep an eye on the beast, but the rocks beneath his feet shifted unevenly. He caught a weird movement from the seal in his periphery, almost like it was going on it’s hind legs like a dog, it’s flipper moving to a shoulder — *seals can’t do that* — and when it pulled away it revealed a pale flash of bare flesh. A blonde head rose, green eyes fixed on his, Laios’ heel caught on a stone and the world spun as he crashed backwards, his shout of pain echoing when his skull banged against cold rock, but he *had to look, he needed to see*—
Laios’ vision swam, he must be hallucinating, because the seal had become a woman — a *naked* woman — scrambling up the shore with eyes wide. Laios kicked at the rock below him, trying to get back to his feet, to run, or attack, or *something*.
“Hey, you! You, human!” A voice? From the woman. Who was much closer now and *startlingly* nude, a seal’s skin folded over her arm and breasts swaying in her excitement — he quickly averted his eyes to focus on the swift movement of her arm as she shoved something into his face. “This is yours, right?!”
Laios blinked. The woman waited patiently for him to respond, but her grin lit the grey sky. A human woman from a seal. A selkie? *No way.* Laios’ head felt like seaweed in a current, trying to process what was in front of his face. The blonde, pretty!, woman was holding something white five inches from his eyes, and when he squinted he could make out his own handwriting.
“My notebook?”
“Yes, the thing you’ve been writing in this whole time.” The seal woman shuffled forward again and Laios felt his face get hot before she just sat back on her feet, flipping through the notebook with great interest. “You left it out here yesterday. You’re a writer! You’re a, a, what’s the word, a scientist?”
Laios wanted to laugh. He’d dropped out of college before he got anywhere near his degree. “Not exactly.”
“You’ve been studying us, right? You have that thing.” She pointed at his camera. “Humans always have those, but they aren’t like you. They usually take ‘pictures’ and leave, but you’ve been here two weeks.” She lifted the book and pointed at it. “Look. Not a lot of humans come here for *us*.”
It was his page on selkies. “You can read?”
She huffed. “That’s not the point!” She was right. The woman tossed the notebook at him and it hit his stomach with a wet little *plop*. “Look, the way I see it, we can help each other out. *I* l want to learn more about human technology, and *you* want to learn more about *us*, right? We can help each other out!”
Her long blonde hair was plastered to her skin, her pupils weren’t as large as Laios had hypothesized, and she didn’t seem to feel the cold air at all. Laios’ brain finally felt like it was returning to his body, checking the numbers and booting up the right programs to function. The seal’s pelt draped over her arm was fascinating, and had most of his interest, but she turned her body to tuck it behind her as a look of suspicion pursed her lips.
“Look, do we have a deal?”
Laios hummed and picked up his notebook. The pages were soaked, but the ink was still legible in most places. If he dried it out right, he might be able to salvage most of it. “Why me?” He wasn’t normally one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but curiosity got the best of him.
“You don’t seem as dumb as the other humans,” the woman said, tilting her head thoughtfully. “Your notebook was right about some things. You call them ‘Bigfoot’, but they don’t come to the ocean if they can avoid it. They don’t speak like we do, they aren’t as good at mimicking humans.”
Laios’ eyes bulged. “So you aren’t human at all? And—Bigfoot’s *real*? You’ve met him—them? Them, *multiple*? Where do they nest?! Do they have family groups like apes do? Can you introduce me to one of—“
“*Shhh!*” The woman’s forefinger pressed to his mouth, and he froze. She was smiling mischievously, like she knew something he didn’t, which he supposed she did. “Does that mean you’re going to take the deal? You help me, I help you?”
Laios nodded enthusiastically, and the woman removed her finger with a satisfied smile. “What use does a seal have for human technology, though?”
Her expression soured in suspicion and she shifted away from him again, hand going to her sealskin. “That’s not really any of your business,” she said haughtily. Now that it appeared he wasn’t going to run she seemed to relax more, pulling her hair over her shoulder and starting to comb her fingers through it. “I’m not usually so careless, but when I saw you had come back to the shore I knew I had to hurry before you left again. My name’s Marcille, by the way.”
“Laios,” he responded, and it was hard to know where to look at her. She wasn’t human, according to her, but she still *looked* like any woman off the street at first glance. How did the evolution of selkies that passed as human compare to the evolution of humans themselves? Did selkies come first? Did that pelt of hers look just like a normal skin, or was it visibly magical in some way? Laios sat up, but Marcille froze and she scowled at him, so he raised his hands in supplication. “Can I look at your skin?” When he tentatively reached for it she smacked his arm away.
“Rude! Don’t you know to work your way up to those sorts of questions?!” Her eyes sparked with anger, and Laios rubbed star-struck at his arm where it stung.
“I can do that,” he grinned. He wrote all his questions in his notebook, but he wouldn’t even need it at this point. Were selkies obligate carnivores, or omnivores? Did it depend on what form they were in? “Why don’t we start with dinner? That’s a common way for humans to get to know each other.” He offered a hand out to her, and after a moment of consideration she smiled and took it.
“Sounds good. Great to meet you, Laios.”

Ferrus trying to make sense of some new feelings he's gained for a very special someone. Ferrus X Argena (OC) Mildly nsfw Song - https://youtu.be/Qebf3c-ZaSM?si=9iJ4A2SS3C635zgd Divider by @squishyowl
Tumblr media
XX/XX/XXXX   Damn That Woman
I think I was given too good of a blessing when I met Argena.
Make no mistake, the problem is my own, not hers. It’s like I found a bar of purest silver in a bin full of iron ore and coal. I don’t know what she has done to me. What effect the time we spend together is having on me, but I know this much: I have changed, and I have never felt this way before. Ever.
I’m not sure how to really describe it. This potent mix of possessiveness, lust, and a third, utterly and inescapably magnetic thing that I cannot give word to in any meaningful capacity because I have never felt anything like it in my life. I don’t know what it is, but it has haunted me for months now. After mulling over for some time I believe I have a conclusion, although what to make of it is another matter. Love. I have fallen in love with her in the most embarrassing, whole hearted, and true fashion possible. This feeling is the feeling of love. I’m not sure I like it, but she is a different matter.
It feels like I met her only a week ago, but it has been over a year. Nearly two, at the time I write this, and that time has slowly chipped away at me, day by day. It’s my fault. I have had her by my side constantly since we met. I made her my senechal. I put myself in a position to be close to her. Even when I didn’t need to I went out of my way to spend time with her, be with her. When it began I was happy to grow close to her as a friend. I don’t have many, even among my own brothers, and she was so different from all of them yet so perfect a compion. Maybe that is why I find myself drawn to her now. In some ways she is just like me. Driven to create, to work with her hands, like I am. She works hard, almost too much. Just as she reminds me to take care of myself, I find myself looking out for her as well. She and I both would rather bite our tongues than ask for help, although she gives it more readily than I do. She is honest and doesn’t wrap her barbs in a layer of sycophancy. She is strong, in her own way, maybe not in the way I would usually measure strength but she is. But she’s much kinder than I am, more easily able to be gentle. The things she makes are delicate and beautiful. Creating for pleasure rather than purely for purpose, where I consider practicality almost entirely. She’s a good shot, and could be quite good with a blade, but she’s no warrior. There’s no thrill in combat or danger for her. At times it shocks me that we have so much in common, and at others I wonder how we get along so well when we’re so different. It’s like comparing a black swan to a raven. Both have the dark feathers, but even those aren’t quite the same, much less the rest of the bird.
Although I could hardly be compared to even a raven. They may eat the eyes out of corpses, but they have an elegance to them, and their feathers gleam with opaline colors in the right light.
I wonder to myself if that is why she is drawn to beauty. Because she herself is the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen. Eala dhubh, black swan. Or a selkie maiden, from the stories of old Terra. Either is an apt comparison. It is her grace and elegance that remind me that she was nobility at some point, although you’d never be able to tell if you looked at her now. She is that statue brought to life, the kind of feminine beauty that some men will spend their entire lives trying to capture. She is the woman that gets all the songs and poems written about her, not for her. She is beheld her from afar, gazed at like some masterwork painting, but never approached her for fear of inadequacy. The type of woman that catches the eye of even some of my most stoic brothers. Unapproachable beauty, at least if you’re a coward. I am not, but I am new to love. This warmth deep in my heart when I think of her, when we’re together. It’s not something I ever thought of myself experiencing. I have seen some of my brothers find themselves brides, and I have been content to consign myself to watching, and nothing else. No more.
Damn that woman. She has my heart and doesn’t have the slightest idea.
If I were anyone else I may have cracked already. But here I have to be cautious, and as in many things I must be practical. If I truly want to woo her, what can I give her? What do I have over my brothers, a few of whom I know she gets along well with and could be with if things become truly FUBAR. If she were mine she would have the life of a queen, but that is true for any Primarch’s wife, and that will not be a factor in her mind at all. She was a princess, and left that life behind anyway to work for me. Any man could give her a family, and any of my brothers could see that she wants for nothing ever again. No, I have had to come to terms with the fact that if she is to be with me, it is because it is me and only me she wants. And I am not a handsome man. My nickname is the Gorgon for a reason. The truth is that I have nothing to offer her. Nothing but myself. In spite of my looks, and my guarded heart. This whole love thing, I am learning, is an extremely messy ordeal.
I know I am a hard sell, but the thought of her being with one of my brothers or another man hurts. Of course, if that is how things would turn out, so be it. She is her own woman, and I cannot force her to love me back. No, if I have to let her go, I will. But it cuts me deeply. At the very least I can take solace in the fact that she would never go with Fulgrim. I can even assure myself that one of my brothers could take care of her at least as well as I could. But she is mo ghaol, and the thought still makes me sick. I want her to be mine. I want you to be mine.
That has been running through my thoughts frequently as of late. I can’t shake the thought no matter how hard I’ve tried, I have tried. But they linger, and they stick like burrs, no matter how hard I try to push them aside. I want…Throne, I barely even know. This whole romance thing is so bloody nebulous. I want to hold her close, protect her from everything this galaxy may throw. I could gladly spend my  days talking with her, and nothing else. She has made me happy in a way I didn’t know I was lacking, filled a longing for a friend I didn’t know I had, and it has grown out of my control. And she is perfect, in a way. Not a perfect person, nobody is, but for me. Gold to silver, her femininity to my masculinity. Oh Throne, that’s a rabbit hole.
Maybe not one I should get into, but that is why I have this book. Because the contents will never see the bloody light of day, not if I can help it. It was a good idea, and I’m glad I took Roboute’s suggestion. Otherwise I would have nowhere to express all these…thoughts, I have. Gena has been my confidant for a while, but I think I’d rather burn the entire book then let her see what comes next.
I want her.
Even writing that little feels dirty. Appropriate, I suppose. These thoughts I have are equally unclean. I’m good at pushing them aside, ignoring them. Or maybe they just hide, receding into the cracks of my mind and waiting to nag me again. It’s the worst during my rut, but they come at other times, jab me in the kidney, then run off again. But the fact remains. I want her. That in itself is new. I’ve felt sexual desire before, been through enough bloody ruts to ensure that. She isn’t even the first woman I’ve found attractive, but none have sparked this need in me like she has. Gena is special. Truly special.
I’ve mentioned her beauty before but it bears repeating. It also doesn’t help that she is exactly my type, physically. My brothers have assumptions about my taste in women which are decidedly false. But she is absolutely perfect. Slim and soft and deliciously curvy. It’s hard for me not to note certain things when I look at her. The way her robe flows around the curve of her breasts, her slender waist tapering out to wide hips, the thickness of her thighs filling out her skirts. There’s a grace and smoothness to her movements that’s nearly impossible for me to look away from, as effortless as the flow of molten metal. There’s a certain lilt in her voice when she says my name and I can’t hear it enough these days. Her skin is nearly as fair as mine and her hair is as pitch black as a Medusan sea, falling in waves around her face and over her shoulders. She smiles when she sees me, those lovely full lips of hers quirking up and her golden eyes bright like new coins.
On their own, in the moment these things about her I can set aside, and see only my senechal and friend. It’s when the moment passes. When I’m lying wide awake in bed thinking about her. That is when my mind assembles these fragments into the pornographic. Those images haunt my dreams, linger in the chill on my bare skin. The faceless woman in my mind during my rut is no longer so. It’s her, now. Dead gods of Medusa. I want her.
I want to feel her lithe legs coiling around my hips in a futile attempt to hold them in place. I want to hear her out of breath and whispering my name, her naked body pressed against mine, that sweet voice moaning in bliss. I want to make that calm, gentle expression she has shatter with unconstrained rapture. Hear her begging me for more as we're both drenched in sweat and panting. I want to see my seed dripping from between her legs.
Feeling her clench as we both fall off the edge. Making her truly and completely mine, making her come undone completely, tangling my hand in her hair and drawing her even closer. Something that isn’t merely the physical act but the primal ecstasy of truly becoming one.
I take solace in the fact that she doesn’t know I even have this book. She doesn’t need to know about this absurd situation., neither about my love for her or that I crave her carnally.
I’m ashamed to think about her like this, even if it’s not the only capacity I regard her in. Far from it. Still she’s not mine, and she may never be, but she is my friend, and very dear to me outside these new feelings. It feels wrong to think of her like this, so…horny. Especially since she values her purity so highly. I keep them leashed tightly, for all the good it does. They’re only my thoughts though. And I have to wonder if she thinks similar things about me.
A part of me hopes she does, although I know it’s unlikely. Still, woven in with all my desire is the deep, desperate hope that she shares the same feelings I do. The same love, the same lust, the same need to be close. To be wanted by her. Having her wanting me to be hers in the same way I want her to be mine. It’s a harmless wish, if nothing else. One I can only see remaining a wish. Even though I have never been one to indulge in dreams, this one is excessively sweet and I can’t help but revisit it. I speak as though it will only remain a dream. It sounds negative, but it feels the most realistic.
I care for her deeply, but the fact remains that before anything else she has become my friend. If I told her all this, if she didn’t share my feelings, things could never go back to the way they were. Something between us would be irreparably broken. The casualness, the disregard of proper, stuffy respect. She does not say “my lord” anymore unless she’s joking, and I call her Gena, and “my lady” in jest. I can be honest with her, blunt and even ribald. On many levels we are not equals and never will be, but in this bond we have forged, we are. If she doesn't want me the way I want her, if she doesn’t yearn for my embrace the way I yearn for hers. If I’m stupid enough to tell her that and tip the balance, then…no. If I can’t make her my bride I will content myself with her friendship. That in itself has been enough.
If she wants me, she will have to be the one to tell me, on her terms. I don’t like it, having to sit back and do nothing. It is against my nature to, and feels foreign. But I will hold my tongue and be patient. Rather that, than risking something so precious.
Until then the most I can do is hope that our time together sparks something in her the way it has for me. I want her to be mine.

Selkie flash fiction
"Oops, dropped your coat," you say, handing the jacket back to the beautiful stranger. They look at you in shock as they take it from your hands.
"You didn't take it," they say as if they can't believe it.
You squirm, then awkwardly say, "of course not. It doesn't belong to me"
You walk away as they continue to stare at you, clutching the coat.
The next day you're walking to your favorite Cafe when the stranger appears at your side, wearing the same coat. They ask where you're going and before you know it you're seated at your favorite table with them, talking about your life over a latte. They try to pay for you but you insist on handling it, appreciating spending time with them. They ask if they can see you again and you eagerly agree.
The next day they show up during your lunch break, with fish & chips for you. It's the best you've ever tasted, but seeing they don't have anything to eat you insist on sharing. They are obviously delighted by this. You make plans to meet again.
So the months go, with you slowly falling in love with them, their generosity, their humor, their ability to make every day better. Finally late one night they tell you the truth: they are a selkie and you could have trapped them by taking their coat. It's what most humans would do. But giving it back intrigued them, made them want to know you better, to understand your kindness. With trembling hands they hold out a second coat, asking if you will marry them and join them among the seal folk.
You can't imagine a life without them, and quickly agree.
